The gearbox in our smaller truck feels kinda funny now.  Its hard to shift, and almost impossible to get into first gear unless totally stoped. Kinda feels like the syncros are shot or like the cluch isn't disconnecting.

The cluch also connects very close to the floor.  If the cluch is shot, shouldn't it connect at the top of the pedal movement?

Any ideas what might be wrong fellas?

It may feel a little lighter near the end of it's life, but should still take up near the same height. Your symptom sounds like a sticky pilot bearing. If this little critter gets close to seizure, it will try and drive the gearbox input shaft when you disengage the clutch. It was MAF part no. 926050 and was listed as a one piece grille and brush guard. It has removable small bars that go over the head lights and a flat bar across the front of the grille for mounting lights. It does not replace the bumper and only has two small bumpers that protect the bumper at all. I was bidding for a ARB on Yahoo, but I dropped out. Sounds like you might be considering a fair bit of mass in the dark recesses of your 80. The 863s will possibly handle the pace, but for "the usual stuff you go away with" as you describe it, the 864s might be the better choice. Many of us drive around town with 864s when we have some sort of permanent load (like a drawer system). Your best bet might be to find someone with 864s fitted, and con them into a test drive. The winner (Mike Smith) in his Range Rover was actually using a 12 volt Hi-mount Warn. I know; I helped him repair it after it's clutch parted company while working hard in one particularly nasty boghole. Another competitor (also named Smith and also in a Range Rover); Roger Smith in fact, used a Warn hydraulic winch. We know it was Warn, because the regulations demanded that the vehicles be fitted with a Warn winch. Had they not demanded that, I would have been running my faithful PTO (by Toyota). Bloody amazing thing to watch is a PTO with an auto transmission. Just gets up there into top gear and hauls a-plenty with haste. Don't know much about the Warn hydraulic. These Manik guards are the devil's work! This has been a topic of discussion many times. If you have such a bar on your truck, I strongly recommend you stop whatever you are doing right away and tear that desecration right off your Land Cruiser. It WILL NOT protect your vehicle! It WILL cause worse damage in a collision than if you didn't have it. It wasn't worth the steel that was used to make it. It was meant for LOOKS ONLY!!! Back when I was young and foolish I had one. I got hit twice and it was bad. The wrap around portions broke both front flares, the bumper was totalled and of course the bar was bent up like it was made of Silly String. Somebody should sue Manik for something. They have to be breaking some law, even if there's no law against promoting cheesiness. JUST SAY "NO" TO BRUSH GUARDS!!! Ok, I need my medication now. You Manik folks have just bought me a couple more sessions with my shrink. Thanks a lot. _________________________________________ Franco Castro-Marin 1727 E. Wonderful winches.  Pull like hell.  Used to have one on our former Unimog. But you do need a propper hydraulic system to suport it, as far as I know.  It was just a WARN 12000 winch, just with a hydraulic rotor instead of the motor. Realy cool.

Most places do not allow, thus the reason that it is not available from the dealers. You could, however, install the film type yourself, but you may be risking a ticket... Regardless, it will be interesting if privacy glass is available from someplace. It sure would be nice in very sunny hot areas. Larry From ???@??? Local charge - 3 hrs labor, no parts. They did hook it up to the gauges and such, but I think the work is crap. Why? Because my LSPV rod now runs _over_ the trailin arm of the axle. Apparently they couldn't get the pressure up high enough without interference from the arm (my earlier situation exactly), so they just went over it, even though it makes contact. I'm going to go back in sometime this week and see why they couldn't lower the body of the unit (like the book says) to get the pressure needed.
