Mendocino National Forest, 1/8/2000

Tony Twiddy called for an unofficial fun run to Mendocino National Forest, scheduling it for a saturday. Will Leaman told me he'd be in the Bay Area on that weekend, so it was a cinch that we should take the pig up to the forest for a fun day of mild off-roading.

The day was pleasant, just cruising around on fire roads. I didn't put it in 4wd until just after lunch, when we got to a creekbed and played around in it. I got high-centered on some rocks in the creek, trying to follow Gary Kardum. Roger Taylor finally strapped me off the rocks. Thanks, Roger.

Will took some of these pics, I took some. Was fun!

Just after dawn, west of Clear Lake This guy just happened to be driving through our meet-up spot! Bunch of cruisers at Bartlett Mineral Springs Spa
Since 1867 A recent fire burnt the new pumphouse, but left the adjacent gazebo - now almost 140 years old - intact. PMC group photo in front of the gazebo. If I'd made this web page the night after the run I could have told you the names of everyone in this picture. A pretty creek. Some neat moss.
Stopping at another hot springs, supposedly. Will set up the shot at one of the many creek crossings and caught a couple cruisers kicking up some spray.
